What is Rootgrow?

Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi is an extra root system for your plants.  Is is a fungi that gets into the roots of your plants, becoming almost part of the plant and increases the area that the plants roots can get nutrients and water.  Because the Mycorrhizal Fungi  is much finer that roots it is able to absorb nutrients and water much more efficiently than the root system alone so alowing your plants to grow quicker and stronger.

Rootgrow is a once-only treatment that increases the volume of soil explored by the plant by up to 700 times! Rootgrow acts like a permanent fertiliser and ensures rapid establishment BUT does more than a fertiliser in that you can expect healthier plants because the friendly Mycorrhizal Fungi help plants have better growth, vigor, flowering and long term survival via this balanced nutrition system. For a healthier plant anywhere in the garden (beds, borders or hanging basket) or trees - indoors or outdoors, choose from our low cost rootgrow range with the friendly fungi!

What are mycorrhizal fungi?

Mycorrhizal fungi are a remarkable group of organisms that have been benefiting plants for 500 million years.

At the dawn of time when plants were just beginning to colonise our planet mycorrhizal fungi were there living in a symbiotic relationship with plants. They became a secondary living root system that enabled plants to extract nutrients and hold onto water in very difficult soil conditions.

As plants evolved so did the mycorrhizal fungi, the more developed forms that associate with large woodland trees evolved fruiting bodies (mushrooms) as a means of dispersing spores into the air. Some of these mycorrhizal mushrooms such as Truffles, Chanterelles and Porcini are prized in the kitchen for their culinary value.
