Fagus sylvatica/ Grow in any well drained soil in sun or partial shade. Happy on chalk soils. Will not tolerate damp sites or waterlogged soils.
Green or common beech has attractive, glossy, green wave edged leaves. Clipped green beech will hold its leaves throughout the winter. RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Plant out: 30-45cm (1-1.5ft) apart
Approx growth rate: 30cm (1ft) per year.
Maintenance: Trim in late summer. The new late summer growth provides screening during the winter months.
