Raspberry Canes - Octavia Primocanes (5 Canes)

Bred by Vicky Knight at EMR East Malling, this new selection looks set to make the biggest impact on the UK raspberry industry since the release of Glen Ample. Derived from a Glen Ample - EM5928/114 cross and trialled as EM6512/50, this variety was named after the Roman month of August. Its commercial potential derives from the combination of a very late season with high quality firm fruit of excellent flavour.

Fruit quality and yield

The berries are large, uniform and firm, blunt conic to roundish in shape and easily detached. Fruit size is similar to, or better than Tulameen, the flavour pleasant and the colour good, if a little dull.

Detailed tests at EMR East Malling have highlighted the varietys excellent shelf life. Listed

and accepted by all the major multiples.
