Large dark green glossy leaves are bronze when young. The simple white flowers are larger than the species armandii clematis. Bloom in March and April. Flowers are sweetly scented. A vigorous climber.
Soil: Requires a moisture retentive soil with good drainage.
Site: Suitable for sun or partial shade. Plant in a sheltered site.
Best grown against a southwest wall to protect early buds from frost damage.
